This weekend is the annual Prix de West Show at the
National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. It's their 40th anniversary show, and looking at the catalog, it looks like they asked a lot of the participating artists, and the artists came through! Not only in the quantity of works, but more importantly, the quality of works. I think the Prix de West is the country's premier Museum show and the artists treat it as such by always putting their best foot forward for the show. The 2013 Prix de West features 101 artists, and a whopping 295 works of art!
Click here to view the catalog of works. Stay tuned to see who wins the awards, including the coveted Prix de West purchase award. If you ever get a chance to go to the Prix de West, be sure to set aside time for the
Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK. It's phenomenal! Here are a few of my personal favorites: I think Jeremy Lipking is a tremendous artist and while he's well known in the art world, he's just beginning to tap into the Western market. I think G. Russell Case is one of the most under-valued landscape artists and Josh Elliott's work speaks for itself. I love the tonalist works of Brent Cotton and I can't leave out Martin Grelle and George Carlson. Check out all the works online and best of luck to all in the draw!
